Our foil coffin

No more zinc coffins!

The double-sided special foil is unfolded and the deceased is placed inside. The foil is closed again and, using sealing pliers, is simply heat-sealed on all three sides. In just a few minutes, you have the special foil completely sealed. The body can now be placed in any coffin.

The PHAROPACK film coffin system fully complies with the airtight requirements of the 1973 Strasbourg Convention and the Berlin Convention on the Transfer of Corpses. The cover should be removed before burial, just like a zinc coffin.

The problem

As undertakers with decades of experience, we specialized in international repatriations six years ago. Weight always plays a role in air repatriation. Therefore, in the interest of our clients, we tried to keep the weight as low as possible. We often used coffins weighing only 19 kg, which could still be used for burial. Often, however, relatives wanted higher-quality coffins. In these cases, a zinc coffin wouldn't fit, or one had to be specially made. This often resulted in immense costs.

The innovation

In 2010, we then established contact with the manufacturer in the USA, who has been successfully marketing this patented process since 1995.

Due to high shipping costs from America, the foil could previously only be offered at a significantly higher price in Europe and other countries. After years of recharging, we have now succeeded in producing this foil ourselves in Germany, thus significantly reducing costs. We now produce this metal foil exclusively with incredible success.

While we're certainly still in its infancy with marketing, the product is fully developed and will completely displace zinc coffins from the market within the next two to four years. The development in America alone demonstrates this. It has already been used several thousand times during the 9/11 attacks in New York, the 2004 Asian tsunami, and the 2010 Haiti earthquake.

There was hardly any need to inform the undertaker about the advantages.

Thanatologists, authorities, disaster relief organizations, hospitals, airlines, and even relatives are enthusiastic about this new method of international repatriation. The intra-European guidelines are important. These are laid down in the so-called Strasbourg Agreement of October 26, 1973.
